Grevillea 'Moonlight'
I have a beautiful grevillea tree on my property in Victoria Park and had played around with dyeing with the old pods. When I saw them in South Perth I was bloody glad to know that if all else failed, my exhibit would at least have grevillea dyed fabrics.
I started by taking the loose seed pods from the ground at the base of the trees. They are SUPER itchy!!!! I chucked them into a glass jar with methylated spirits and water and left her for a few days. Then I added the mordanted linen and left her for another 3 days.
Pre-wash the fabric was a bright rust orange. Post-wash the fabric is a subtle rust.
